SUMMARY:The Wallflowers
DESCRIPTION:A Los Angeles rock band formed in 1989 by Jakob Dylan (son of Bob)\, The Wallflowers’ sound sits at the intersection of heartland rock\, alt-country\, and classic American songwriting — guitars-forward\, melodic\, built for big rooms. \nWhat to expect live… \nA setlist built around Bringing Down the Horse crowd favorites plus tracks from Exit Wounds\, in a converted factory setting that suits their sound perfectly. Basilica Hudson is one of the best rooms in the Hudson Valley for this kind of show. \nPast Albums \nBringing Down the Horse (1996) – the record that made The Wallflowers.  A near-perfect piece of mid-90s American rock — dusty\, cinematic\, and hook-heavy. “One Headlight” won two Grammys and lodged itself permanently in the decade’s soundtrack. \nBreach (2000) – Moodier\, heavier guitars\, less radio-friendy — deliberately so.  A cult record among fans who prefer their Wallflowers unvarnished. \nRed Letter Days (2002) – A deliberate pivot toward a harder\, more straightforward rock sound \nRebel\, Sweetheart (2005) – The most atmospheric of the catalog — cinematic\, sprawling\, and a little restless\, it gestures toward Americana and Southern gothic. \nExit Wounds (2021) – Confident and unhurried\, Exit Wounds sounds clean and muscular.  The Wallflowers still have something to say.

SUMMARY:Memorial Day Weekend: Celebration Of Trees
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of connection\, exploration\, and creative expression in celebration of the trees that shape and sustain this landscape. This joyful\, family-friendly gathering invites you to slow down\, engage your senses\, and deepen your relationship with the natural world. \nWe begin in the Sculpture Field\, where horticulturalist extraordinaire Marc Wolf will offer a guided walk through the park’s trails\, introducing you to a rich diversity of native trees. Together\, we’ll learn to identify different species\, explore the varied habitats across the land\, and take time to greet the trees as they awaken for the season. \nFollowing the walk\, you’re invited to a community art offering led by local artist Jennifer Zackin. Participants gather to wrap lengths of rope around a standing deceased tree — similar to a Maypole — transforming it into a living\, evolving sculpture along our Welcome Trail. \nWe’ll end the day with a simple gratitude closing\, led by the SHP Garden Team\, honoring the trees for all that they give — air\, water\, shelter — and marking this seasonal moment of renewal with presence and appreciation. \nChildren are welcome\, but must be accompanied by an adult. \nProgram Schedule: \n12:30 – 2 pm | Guided Tree Walk (Marc Wolf) – Meet in the Sculpture Field for a family-friendly walk through the park’s trails. Learn to identify native trees\, explore the diverse habitats on the land\, and take time to greet the trees as they awaken for the season. \n2 – 3 pm | Community Tree Weaving & Art Offering (Jennifer Zackin) – Participate in a collaborative tree weaving installation\, where we gather around our chosen tree and weave together\, gradually forming a living\, collective sculpture. \n3 pm | Closing (SHP’s Garden Team) – A simple\, shared moment to thank the trees for all they give — air\, water\, and shelter — and to honor the season of renewal.\nRain Date: Sunday\, May 24th \nTickets:\nGeneral Admission: $30\nMember Ticket: 15% off\nKids: $12 \nPrograms include all day access to our grounds\, from 10 am – 4 pm.

SUMMARY:Ted Dixon - Would it be enough - Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:“We never know what is enough until we know what’s less than enough.” \nI am honored and delighted to present “Would it be enough\,” my first solo exhibition with the Sketchbook Gallery\, Saugerties NY. \nAs a Hudson Valley-based abstract painter\, much of my efforts are focused on creating paintings that encourage viewers to rethink how experiences shape who we are. My thoughts and imagination skirt the boundaries between past\, present\, and future encounters to seek meaning and purpose of joy and hope\, as well as sadness and despair. \nWith these new paintings\, I am inviting the viewer to consider how “enough” plays a role in how we feel\, the decisions we make\, and the person we continue to grow into. \n“The theme of the exhibit came out of my thoughts of a parent who has outlived two of their children\, of a people who continue to wonder when\, and my understanding that received blessings should not come with guilt.” \nI hope you can join in my conversation with Elizabeth Keithline at the gallery on Saturday\, May 23 (from 2:00 to 3:00 pm) – it will be fun. \nTed

SUMMARY:Camera Obscura
DESCRIPTION:Camera Obscura\nwith Louis Abbott (of Admiral Fallow) \nLook to the East\, Look to the West\, the new album by Camera Obscura\, is a revelation. The Tracyanne Campbell-led outfit\, reuniting with producer Jari Haapalainen (Let’s Get Out of This Country\, My Maudlin Career)\, have crafted an album that simultaneously recalls why longtime fans have ferociously loved them for decades while also being their most sophisticated effort to date. \nIt is also the most hard-fought album of Camera Obscura’s career. Following the 2015 passing of founding keyboardist and friend Carey Lander (to whom the penultimate track “Sugar Almond” is addressed)\, the band went into an extended hiatus. They remained in contact\, but their status was uncertain until they announced their return\, having been invited to perform as part of Belle & Sebastian’s 2019 Boaty Weekender cruise festival\, along with a pair of sold-out warm-up shows in Glasgow. Donna Maciocia (keys and vocals) joined founding members Kenny McKeeve (guitar and vocals)\, Gavin Dunbar (bass)\, and Lee Thomson (drums and percussion) for those shows and has since become a regular songwriting partner of Campbell’s. \nRecorded in the same room where Queen wrote “Bohemian Rhapsody\,” Look to the East\, Look to the West feels big\, a widescreen reframing of Camera Obscura’s sound that\, paradoxically\, saw the band go back to basics—there are no string or brass arrangements\, with more emphasis placed on piano\, synthesizers\, Hammond organ\, and drum machines\, and\, perhaps most strikingly\, the group have dropped the veil of reverb that characterized their previous albums. The tinges of country and soul that give Camera Obscura’s baroque take on pop music its bittersweet edge have never been more apparent—guitars shimmer into the distance\, keys haunt\, and Campbell’s voice searches for the heart\, reflecting on love\, loss\, and the passage of time. \nSupport comes in the form of a solo set from Admiral Fallow frontman Louis Abbott. The Glasgow based five piece last toured North America back in 2012 following an appearance at SXSW in 2011\, at which they were herald as ‘One to watch’ by NPR’s All Songs Considered as well as being touted as one of Paste Magazine’s favourite bands of the year.

SUMMARY:Summer Tour Film Screening + Performance by Mason’s Children Presented by Rare Dead
DESCRIPTION:Summer Tour is a poetic documentary that follows Jerry and Annie\, a magnetic young couple devoted to the music and community of Dead & Company\, as they journey across America for the band’s final tour. Blending intimate portraiture with lyrical road imagery\, the film captures the essence of the Deadhead experience: an unconventional family bound together by music\, freedom\, and the open road. At once a love story and a celebration of a uniquely American tradition of wandering\, Summer Tour reflects on what it means to seek belonging\, adventure\, and transcendence in a fleeting moment of cultural history.
