SUMMARY:UAW Earthen Plot Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Earthen Plot; May 16 – June 29\, 2026 \nUAW is proud to present Earthen Plot\, which brings together artists whose practices are rooted—physically\, spiritually\, or intuitively—in the conditions of place. SUMMARY:David Hornung at Hawk + Hive
DESCRIPTION:In Counterpoint\, David Hornung brings together a body of work that is both rigorous and responsive\, revealing compositions that continue to shift and unfold over time\, through a process that is both deliberate and open-ended. Built from interlocking shapes and finely tuned color relationships\, these works evolve through response rather than preconception. Each decision leads to another\, allowing the composition to emerge over time with a sense of immediacy and quiet tension. \nThe title Counterpoint is borrowed from music\, suggesting independent elements moving in relation to one another. In Hornung’s paintings\, color\, shape\, and surface operate in this way\, creating a dynamic balance between structure and improvisation. Subtle shifts in hue and contour activate the surface\, while hand-drawn edges retain a sense of movement and touch. \n\n\nFor further Information\, please contact Jayne Parker at jayne@hawkandhive.com. SUMMARY:Ted Dixon – Would it be enough – Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:“We never know what is enough until we know what’s less than enough.” \nI am honored and delighted to present “Would it be enough\,” my first solo exhibition with the Sketchbook Gallery\, Saugerties NY. \nAs a Hudson Valley-based abstract painter\, much of my efforts are focused on creating paintings that encourage viewers to rethink how experiences shape who we are. My thoughts and imagination skirt the boundaries between past\, present\, and future encounters to seek meaning and purpose of joy and hope\, as well as sadness and despair. \nWith these new paintings\, I am inviting the viewer to consider how “enough” plays a role in how we feel\, the decisions we make\, and the person we continue to grow into. \n“The theme of the exhibit came out of my thoughts of a parent who has outlived two of their children\, of a people who continue to wonder when\, and my understanding that received blessings should not come with guilt.” \nI hope you can join in my conversation with Elizabeth Keithline at the gallery on Saturday\, May 23 (from 2:00 to 3:00 pm) – it will be fun. \nTed

SUMMARY:The Wallflowers
DESCRIPTION:A Los Angeles rock band formed in 1989 by Jakob Dylan (son of Bob)\, The Wallflowers’ sound sits at the intersection of heartland rock\, alt-country\, and classic American songwriting — guitars-forward\, melodic\, built for big rooms. \nWhat to expect live… \nA setlist built around Bringing Down the Horse crowd favorites plus tracks from Exit Wounds\, in a converted factory setting that suits their sound perfectly. Basilica Hudson is one of the best rooms in the Hudson Valley for this kind of show. \nPast Albums \nBringing Down the Horse (1996) – the record that made The Wallflowers.  A near-perfect piece of mid-90s American rock — dusty\, cinematic\, and hook-heavy. “One Headlight” won two Grammys and lodged itself permanently in the decade’s soundtrack. \nBreach (2000) – Moodier\, heavier guitars\, less radio-friendy — deliberately so.  A cult record among fans who prefer their Wallflowers unvarnished. \nRed Letter Days (2002) – A deliberate pivot toward a harder\, more straightforward rock sound \nRebel\, Sweetheart (2005) – The most atmospheric of the catalog — cinematic\, sprawling\, and a little restless\, it gestures toward Americana and Southern gothic. \nExit Wounds (2021) – Confident and unhurried\, Exit Wounds sounds clean and muscular.  The Wallflowers still have something to say.

SUMMARY:Memorial Day Weekend: Celebration Of Trees
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of connection\, exploration\, and creative expression in celebration of the trees that shape and sustain this landscape. This joyful\, family-friendly gathering invites you to slow down\, engage your senses\, and deepen your relationship with the natural world. \nWe begin in the Sculpture Field\, where horticulturalist extraordinaire Marc Wolf will offer a guided walk through the park’s trails\, introducing you to a rich diversity of native trees. Together\, we’ll learn to identify different species\, explore the varied habitats across the land\, and take time to greet the trees as they awaken for the season. \nFollowing the walk\, you’re invited to a community art offering led by local artist Jennifer Zackin. Participants gather to wrap lengths of rope around a standing deceased tree — similar to a Maypole — transforming it into a living\, evolving sculpture along our Welcome Trail. \nWe’ll end the day with a simple gratitude closing\, led by the SHP Garden Team\, honoring the trees for all that they give — air\, water\, shelter — and marking this seasonal moment of renewal with presence and appreciation. \nChildren are welcome\, but must be accompanied by an adult. \nProgram Schedule: \n12:30 – 2 pm | Guided Tree Walk (Marc Wolf) – Meet in the Sculpture Field for a family-friendly walk through the park’s trails.
