SUMMARY:Two Dark Birds Record Release Show
DESCRIPTION:Two Dark Birds Record Release Show \nat the Bearsville Theater Lounge \nDreamers of the Golden Dream (Vol. 1) \nRecorded at The Woods studio near Woodstock\, NY\, Dreamers is the fifth album from Two Dark Birds—exploratory\, dense\, hook-driven\, moody\, exhilarated\, comic\, and open-hearted. Lyrically\, it seeks out the meeting point between the inner life and the wider world. Musically\, it’s boldly eclectic yet always swinging for the fences. \n“Girl of Summer” sets the tone: a poignant portrait of a single moment—this moment\, the forever-moment—radiating outward. “Good Boy Good” follows as a hook-laden pop gem (imagine Nick Lowe meets Spoon at Abbey Road)\, a rare salute to do-right guys. “Born to Fall” unfolds as a story of fractured family bonds\, echoing both Sly Stone’s “Family Affair” and John Phillips’ Wolfking of LA. Elsewhere\, the ballad “Sunbruise” drifts toward Cave/Cohen/Ferry terrain\, while “The Law” delivers an American koan wrapped in blistering folk-rock. \nThe album closes with “The Song to End It All\,” a true epic that begins with a hungover caveman in prehistoric France and ends inside a Bob Seger fever dream. Across ten minutes\, it channels the anger\, absurdity\, and uneasy spirit of the times. \nStay tuned for Volume 2—arriving Summer 2026. \nTwo Dark Birds is a band from the Catskill Mountains led by songwriter Steve Koester and drummer Jason Mills. They are joined by Josh Roy Brown (lap steel)\, Tyler Wood (keys)\, Iris Clementine (vocals)\, Mark Lerner (bass)\, Jeff Hill (bass). Since 2008\, they have released four critically acclaimed albums\, as well as the 2022 EP Porous.

SUMMARY:Tophouse
DESCRIPTION:Expectations versus reality. Unbridled optimism versus rugged lived experience. Theory versus Practice. \nThis is the conflict at the center of Tophouse’s dueling new EPs. \nTheory\, released in May 2024\, brims with hope\, optimism\, and the unshakeable knowledge that hard circumstances and people can change for the better. \nThe new EP\, Practice is different. While the band’s intricate arrangements and high-energy performances carry through\, the subject matter and outlook of these new songs stands in stark contrast to the upbeat and hopeful worldview of Theory. \n“We didn’t start out writing these songs with a two-part set of EPs in mind\,” says lead vocalist Joe Larson. “But when they were written and we were looking at how to arrange them on an album\, the clear delineation of themes became pretty apparent. The idealistic\, hopeful worldview that we can all strive for in Theory\, up against the hard reality that life doesn’t always work out the way we want in Practice.” \n“I Don’t Wanna Move On” is a stark meditation on coming to terms with separation. The chorus repeats\, like a rosary\, swelling to a frenetic burst of cathartic acoustic energy. \n“Meteor”\, bolstered by lush string arrangements and Western electric guitar\, is about crashing and burning from self-sabotage. The Western elements in this song\, themselves a rarer color palette for Tophouse\, are contrasted by a vaguely sci-fi string track. \nOn “Waste”\, the band confronts the consequences and loneliness of living with past mistakes. The song’s vivid imagery places the listener in a frigid\, stark\, and lonely moment asking the haunting question – is every experience worth having\, or are some experiences worth never having at all? \nTophouse\, comprised of Larson (lead vocals\, guitar\, banjo)\, Jesse Davis (guitar\, mandolin\, percussion\, backing vocals)\, William Cook (violin\, backing vocals)\, and Andy LaFave (piano\, backing vocals)\, formed in 2016 in Missoula\, Montana\, where Cook and Davis met in the music program at the University of Montana. They began as a street performing duo\, honing their craft performing instrumental originals on the streets (and empty parking garages) of Missoula. Cook soon brought Larson\, a longtime friend\, into the fold and the trio began recording original songs and performing up and down the stunningly beautiful Bitterroot Valley.

SUMMARY:eucademix (Yuka Honda)
DESCRIPTION:eucademix at the Bearsville Theater Lounge \nYuka Honda (eucademix) is a composer\, producer\, and sonic innovator whose work defies genre and convention. Co-founder of the trailblazing duo Cibo Matto\, she has since forged a solo path that blends electronic experimentation\, improvisational depth\, infectious rhythm\, and abstract storytelling. She describes her music as quantum\, continuum\, and sensory—a fluid exploration of sound as both narrative and experience. Like a book or a film\, her compositions invite the listener into a story: shifting through contrasting emotions\, spaces\, and textures to create an unfolding journey. \nHonda began her musical path with classical piano lessons. Although she wasn’t drawn to much of the repertoire\, she found lasting value in the ear training that remains one of her greatest assets today. After moving to New York City in the late 1980s\, she was working as a food writer when she discovered the emerging world of digital instruments. Like many electronic musicians of her generation\, she began composing in her bedroom\, exploring not only chords and melodies but also the vast expressive possibilities of sonic manipulation. Her work was shaped by the sound of hip hop—where sampling\, layering\, and cross-genre collage redefined music—as well as by experimental production\, microtonal detail\, and the interplay between digital and live instrumentation.\nIn 1993 she met Miho Hatori\, whose pop vocal sensibility fused with Honda’s experimental approach to form the groundbreaking duo Cibo Matto\, releasing two acclaimed albums on Warner Brothers Records. Though the band was short-lived\, Honda continued to expand her vision\, and today performs her work as a solo artist under the name eucademix\, bringing her singular sound world to stages worldwide.

SUMMARY:Yasmin Williams
DESCRIPTION:Yasmin Williams is an innovative guitarist and composer known for her unique compositional approach and expansive instrumental style. Her latest album Acadia\, released on Nonesuch Records\, showcases her evolution from solo performer to collaborative artist\, featuring partnerships with notable musicians like Aoife O’Donovan and Immanuel Wilkins. \nWilliams’ distinctive creative process involves “ruminating” on single notes until compositions naturally emerge. Beyond traditional fingerpicked guitar\, she demonstrates mastery of multiple instruments including kora\, harp guitar\, banjo\, and electric guitar. Her music\, while rooted in folk traditions\, transcends conventional structures to incorporate elements of progressive rock and experimental composition. \nFollowing her acclaimed 2021 album Urban Driftwood\, Acadia represents a significant artistic expansion\, featuring three distinct sections that move from traditional folk influences to atmospheric soundscapes and experimental arrangements. Williams’ approach emphasizes sustained tones and intricate articulation\, creating music that balances technical precision with ethereal\, floating melodies. \nYasmin Williams\, raised in Woodbridge\, Virginia\, grew up surrounded by music. Inspired by a wide range of artists—from Chuck Brown to Jimi Hendrix—she began developing her innovative fingerstyle acoustic guitar technique while studying music theory and composition at NYU. Williams has released two previous albums\, Unwind (2018) and Urban Driftwood (2021)\, where she introduced unique approaches\, such as playing kalimba and guitar simultaneously. She also incorporates instruments like the kora\, harp guitar\, and banjo. Despite her use of folk instruments\, she resists being categorized within the genre\, valuing creative freedom over conformity. Her latest record\, Acadia\, is out now via Nonesuch Records. \nAll Ages\, Under 18 accompanied
