INSIDE+OUT

Just 70 miles north of NYC, ensconced on over 8 secluded acres and nestled among a healthy stand of old-growth Norway spruce, you’ll find 205 Emans, a quintessential example of the mid-century modern style. A core tenet of Resnick’s architecture philosophy was to design properties in harmony with nature and this is readily apparent in every aspect of the home. While the design is striking in its originality, it’s also approachable. It’s the kind of home that invites you to stay a while.

INSIDE

The interior of this mid-century home radiates both ease and sophistication. A wall of glass, stacked bluestone walls and an open plan provide an instant and visceral connection to the property’s natural elements and surroundings. The many windows and twelve skylights allow sunlight to permeate every room in the house.

A mix of high-end materials including red slate floors, birch cabinetry, redwood shelves, and exposed wood beams cement the connection between the interior and the outdoors. Solar gains during the day contribute to the home’s energy efficiency. The kitchen retains the original cabinetry, decorative tile work and substantial built-ins.

In addition to the three bedrooms, there are two bonus spaces, one with high-end sound dampening panels and multiple walls of windows that is currently a home office and another small room that could serve as a kid’s playroom or additional office.
