James Teschner is an American artist born in 1958, known for his contemplative, large-scale paintings that explore the transient effects of light, particularly at sunset and during the transition to nightfall.
A summary of Teschner’s artistic inspiration:
I spend months painting the remote farmlands of central France, immersed in the landscape. My recent work captures the setting sun, moon, and sky—the landscape’s transition from light to darkness. The soft French scenery features farmlands, trees, rivers, and wildlife under vast skies. I depict the ephemeral, complex colors of the setting sun and the luminous, cool blue moonlight that reveals planets and the Milky Way. Painting here connects me to the profound Universe, emphasizing our small, shared role in creation.
