“Sita Gómez – Watercolors” at Hudson Hall is a vivid, career‑spanning retrospective of Cuban‑American artist Sita Gómez, whose fiercely colorful paintings of women blend glamour, politics, and personal history. It’s a rare look at watercolors by the 94‑year‑old artist Sita Gómez, expanding on her February–April retrospective at Hudson Hall, curated by Nancy Cobean of Rose Gallery.
Born in Paris in 1932 and now based in Hudson, Gómez fled Nazi‑occupied Europe as a child and later left Cuba after Castro’s revolution. Her work is steeped in those experiences of exile and survival, focusing almost exclusively on women—glamorous stars, “bag ladies,” queer couples, everyday figures—painting them with unapologetic sensuality, humor, and a strong Latin mood that reflects her Hispanic heritage
The exhibition runs from April 11–May 3, 2026.
Admission is free, reservations are recommended.
