An Evening of American Art Song – In Memory of Robert Manno

The sudden passing just last month of Robert Manno gives us the saddest of opportunities, to make a long-planned performance of one of his finest works of vocal chamber-music now the centerpiece of a concert in his memory. His deeply evocative song-cycle — a setting of the work of one of our most renowned poets — is at the very heart of an evening devoted to the glorious tradition of 20th-century American art song. Brian Zeger, longtime Artistic Director of Vocal Arts at the Juilliard School, partners with two of America’s finest young singers for a rare Maverick evening of song in the classical style.

Widely recognized as one of the leading collaborative pianists of the day, Brian Zeger has performed with many of the world’s greatest singers including Marilyn Horne, Deborah Voigt, Anna Netrebko, Susan Graham, René Pape, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Frederica von Stade, Piotr Beczala, Bryn Terfel, Joyce DiDonato, Denyce Graves, and Adrianne Pieczonka in an extensive concert career that has taken him to the premiere concert halls throughout the United States and abroad.
