Woodstock Playhouse

An Historic Venue

Established in 1938 as one of the first rural extensions of New York City’s famed Broadway, the Woodstock Playhouse is an iconic, not-for-profit theater at the gateway to Woodstock. Completely rebuilt and modernized while preserving its historic character, it’s a fully enclosed, climate-controlled, 321-seat house hosting year-round theatre, music, dance, festivals, and film events.

Broadway In Your Backyard

Its Professional Theater season runs from early June through mid-August, anchored by the long-running Summer Theatre Festival, a regional company of rising professional actor-singer-dancers performing fully staged productions of classic and contemporary musicals.

Arts Education Program

In partnership with the New York Conservatory for the Arts, the Playhouse’s arts education program offers year-round training in acting, dance, and voice plus summer musical theatre and drama camps, embedding young performers and tech students alongside the professional summer stock company for a hands-on, resume-building experience.

Available For Rentals, Too

The Playhouse’s professional infrastructure makes it an inviting “premiere event” option for outside producers and community partners, and is actively available as a rental venue for concerts, film screenings, comedy, and special events.
