Cultivating Cannabis

“It’s all about connection and collaboration. As one of the first NY-licensed Hemp Cannabinoid Retailers, operating since 2016, I’ve witnessed a tremendous expansion of the industry in New York State, and with the Adult-Use market coming on board, we’re poised for even greater growth. With strong, collaborative partnerships and alliances, the Hudson Valley can establish itself as a leader in the economic, environmental, and social development of New York’s cannabis industry. To accomplish this, we’ll need to form and deepen relationships across the entire local supply chain, and that starts with current and future cannabis industry folks identifying themselves and coming together. We created the Hudson Valley Cannabis Rollcall to provide that opportunity.”  – Melissa Gibson, Event Co-Organizer, Founder/Owner of Hemp & Humanity and NY Adult Use Dispensary License candidate.

Hudson Valley Cannabis RollCall is hosted jointly by Melissa Gibson, and Tamika Dunkley, Executive Director of Seasoned Gives, a nonprofit whose mission is to create lasting solutions to poverty, hunger and social injustice through education, ownership and self-sufficiency. The Seasoned Evolution Center, where the event will be held, focuses on providing mentorship, opportunities and support for BIPOC and female entrepreneurs. Seasoned Gives has been at the forefront of advocating for business owners of color to be prioritized in the cannabis space.

“Creating an ecosystem of Business-to-Business commerce in the Hudson Valley will have a huge ripple effect that will elevate the entire community. It is important that local business owners are supported effectively. Seasoned Gives is committed to ensuring equity in the cannabis space by providing pathways to women and people of color, with a goal for them to have a stake in this new and emerging industry. We’re still severely under-represented despite the legislation. Only with clear and intentional support will the most marginalized, targeted and under-represented business owners be able to be competitive and sustainable.” – Tamika Dunkley, Executive Director
