With live performances ranging from renowned global musicians to award-winning Hudson Valley-based artists, a new conversation series, and family programs–you’ll want to get tickets before they sell out. What you need to know about THE LOCAL, besides the cool vibe of being housed in a former Dutch chapel built in the 1800s–is that the size of this space allows for an up-close, super intimate setting—there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
The Local opened in September 2023 as a space for arts, culture, and community under the guidance of Isabel Soffer and Danny Melnick, co-founders of Hudson Valley Live. The two Saugerties-based music producers and performing arts professionals have each devoted more than 30 years to producing festivals, concerts, and curated arts experiences.

Some of this year’s highlights include can’t-miss acts like Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group) on February 3, five-time Grammy award-winning slide guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (February 24), Grammy-nominated artist Tracy Bonham, who celebrates her birthday with a performance on Saturday, March 16; JigJam (March 12), Caña Dulce y Caña Brava (April 10) who perform music, dance and poetry from Veracruz, Mexico; and Persian classical music by Kayhan Kalhor (June 15).
Our very own local, world-renowned astronomer Bob Berman kicks off his Consider This discussion series on March 19. Plus, this season brings a collaboration with Barbès Brooklyn, one of NYC’s most beloved music clubs, brings three exciting shows: psychedelic French-Latin hybrid music, Southern Appalachian sounds, and New Orleans blues.

The two Saugerties-based music producers and performing arts professionals have each devoted more than 30 years to producing festivals, concerts and curated arts experiences. Besides hosting its own world-class series of music and dance events, the ADA-accessible space is available to rent for parties, concerts, pop-ups, gallery exhibits and more.
