💫We had the privilege of catching up with RŪNA proprietor Clare Hussain and Chef Ryan McClintock, as they welcomed the emerging 🌺 Spring season with a new, elevated menu. 🍽️

They rekindled their passion for classic French bistro fare, with a menu that celebrates the essence of traditional French dishes—elevated, heartfelt and locally sourced.

We asked the RUNA team for their favorite dish on the new menu?

❤️ Clare: Oh, that’s a hard one. I am partial to the escargots. My family loves burgers and pasta dishes.

🤵‍♂️"The wedding was, somehow, both intimate and a rager. We wanted to ensure our parties were small and that the space felt cozy and simple. The ceremony included a mindfulness meditation from our dear friend Alex Sanders. We had two officiants, they created a lovely, hilarious, and special moment that I’ll never forget." - Jake Alexander

👰‍♀️"The vibe we were going for (and ultimately succeeded in curating) was a stew of romantic old Hollywood, antique and vintage elements, rock n’ roll, and a little whimsy but always grounded in honesty with a focus on celebrating our community. Something that was important to us was that every single person there felt lifted up, included, and encouraged to be unapologetically themselves. Our dress code was 'Comfortable, fun, funky, and hot as hell. Interpret that as you want, but here’s a challenge: try to outdo us.' All of those elements together created an energy that was free, open, and so joyful." - Hayley Moir

🤵‍♂️"Our afterparty was the culmination of all these things: we have too many talented friends not to let them perform for us. Once we knew Apocalypse Noir would do a set, Hayley asked a bunch of other friends to do numbers that they had done in the past, and we loved it. It was the first time my father had ever watched a man 'death-drop' before his very eyes, and it was a new core memory for me." - Jake Alexander

We caught up with Chef Devin for Hudson Valley Foodie Month—get the inside scoop on what makes Peekamoose a must-visit. Let's take a 🫣 below...

I+O: Where are you originally from and how did you wind up in the Hudson Valley?

👨‍🍳 "I was born in Brooklyn, but moved to the Catskills, specifically Haines Falls, when I was about 12 years old. I have five sisters and we all attended Hunter-Tannersville schools. After attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, I wound up working in some amazing Manhattan establishments. When I met my wife in 1997, we knew that we wanted to own something someday. When visiting my mom in Haines Falls, we passed a “for sale” sign on Route 28 in Big Indian and knew it was time to make our dreams a reality." - Chef Devin Mills

I+O: Let’s talk about the food. What are your signature dishes?

👨‍🍳 "Our slow braised short ribs were definitely the most requested dish – but I think it’s because no one has the patience to make them at home! It’s quite a labor-intensive dish, with just the sauce component taking more than four days to reduce in a classic culinary discipline.

Our Roasted Beet Tartare is another guest favorite and is served with a Worcestershire aioli, caperberries and micro arugula. This dish was inspired by the classic French dish, Beef Tartare and is probably our most written about dish. Since our menu changes so frequently, it’s hard to nail down a specific signature dish, as they are not available year round."
