I+O: Your work has an ethereal quality to it. Has that always been part of your relationship to photography?

"I don’t strive for it, but when it appears, I recognize it as valuable. To me, ‘ethereal’ points to the unseen—the qualities of things that exist beyond our immediate perception, perhaps even beyond knowing. Aren’t we all searching for the unseen?" - David McIntyre

I+O: You work across mediums—photography, film, installations. Do you have a favorite?

"They’re all just tools. Each one helps turn the immaterial into something material. The artist uses everything they have—and if we don’t have it, we learn it." - David McIntyre
