New Beginnings: A Message from INSIDE+OUT
Each year New Year’s Day gifts us a moment to go within – to reflect on the year behind us while dreaming of how to find more balance and fulfillment going forward. This January, INSIDE+OUT turns the bend into our fourth year of celebrating the vibrant spirit of life in the Hudson Valley. We do this by sharing a steady flow of original content that showcases the fascinating folks from all walks of life who live and work here (those building and creating things from the ground up) and by sharing the incredible local happenings that enrich our lives. It’s been a remarkable journey, woven together by the unwavering support and love of our staff, community, contributors and followers – thank you!
WE ARE UPSTATE NY!
While the Hudson Valley has bloomed in myriad ways since we began, it has long been a watering hole for world-class art and music, farm-to-table fare, wellness, sustainability and trailblazers in social equity, environmental justice, and more. Our aim from the magazine’s inception has been to reveal and invoke all that vibrant creativity and culture in the region, as well as the rare authenticity and passion of the people that is so ubiquitous, all held within the generous landscape of this valley. A New Year, A New Beginning: Embracing Hope in the Hudson Valley
The Hudson Valley, with its flowing waters and shifting seasons, teaches us that even in moments of uncertainty, we can lean into the wisdom of nature and to the solace of our own refuge at home.
Pema Chodron, the Buddhist teacher, author and nun, once said, “I am the sky, everything else is the weather.” It’s important to remember that while life is ever-shifting, there’s always room for space, hope, balance, and deeper connections.
By cultivating greater internal resources, we can knowingly embrace love and joy as well as weather whatever storms may come our way. With that said, our focus for January will be on how to help us all feel better supported and at peace, no matter what is going on. Let’s focus on embracing our homes as sanctuaries — a refuge from the world filled with comfort, joy and love.

May we all find the strength and compassion in 2025 to embrace the unknown with open hearts, seek joy in the little things, and connect — with nature, each other, and ourselves. Wishing you all a year filled with growth, inspiration, and the warmth of community.
