A Culinary Tribute: Exploring an Anthony Bourdain-Inspired Menu
Anthony Bourdain inspired me at a young age, teaching me to be adventurous when traveling and trying different foods. This approach still sticks with me today, guiding me to travel far from my Hudson Valley roots while also helping me appreciate the incredible local culinary resources we have here. One of his quotes that resonates with me is…
“Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.”
This is so true!
I’m so excited to have discovered a nearby hub that also seems to love my hero so much that they offer an Anthony Bourdain-inspired menu. The Kitchen Sink Supper Club, located in Beacon, New York, has a unique style–focusing on short-term tasting menus that last only a few weeks. The tasting menus include a 6-course (or more) dining experience with optional beverage pairings or a la carte drinks. As soon as I heard that they were doing an Anthony Bourdain-inspired menu, I knew I had to make a reservation before this one was retired.
Embarking on a culinary journey inspired by the legendary Anthony Bourdain is not merely about satisfying the palate; it’s a homage to a life in pursuit of flavor, culture and adventure. The menu, crafted in his honor, promises to transport diners to the far reaches of the globe, offering a taste of the diverse cuisines and bold flavors that Bourdain celebrated throughout his illustrious career.

As I reviewed the menu, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation, knowing each dish would carry the spirit of exploration and discovery that defined Bourdain’s culinary philosophy. From street food stalls to fine dining, every bite would be infused with the essence of his travels.
The first course was inspired by Anthony Bourdain’s time as a young, aspiring chef in Provincetown, Massachusetts. His travels in Asia inspired other dishes and each course has a story tied to his life.
We finished our dining experience with a nod to his love for coffee and cigarettes. What an amazing experience from start to finish – kudos to The Kitchen Sink Supper Club for a great menu!
In honor of Anthony Bourdain, don’t forget to keep these words in mind:
“If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean or simply across the river. Walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food. It’s a plus for everybody.”
