Saint Patrick’s Day may be a celebration of Irish culture and heritage, but you don’t need to be from the Emerald Isle to enjoy the many St. Pat’s events around the Hudson Valley. And although green beer and pub crawls abound, there’s so much more to do around the region. Looking for the best St. Patrick’s day events in the Hudson valley? The Colony in Woodstock offers two great events in honor of St. Paddy’s Day. On March 15th, catch the legendary Dublin City Ramblers, an Irish band that’s blazed a trail for folk music for more than 50 years. Boston Blackthorne, an award-winning Celtic duo, opens the set. On St. Patrick’s Day, AJ Lee & Blue Summit are in town from Cali’s Bay Area to perform their unique bluegrass sound inspired by a gumbo of influences from country to soul to swing and jam.

Although this is not a St. Patrick’s event, this acclaimed play’s run at Hudson’s Park Theater continues on the holiday and is worth a mention for those looking for something to do outside of the typical green scene. Performed by Broadway veteran Scott Barrow, Every Brilliant Thing takes us on a journey of the narrator from age six through adulthood as he deals with his mother’s depression by making a list of brilliant, joyful things; a play called both heart-wrenching yet hilarious, highlighting the resilience of the human spirit.
