Saint Patrick’s Day may be a celebration of Irish culture and heritage, but you don’t need to be from the Emerald Isle to enjoy the many St. Pat’s events around the Hudson Valley. Andy Cooney’s Irish Cabaret Celebration | March 7th @ 7:30 pm

An evening of the arts awaits at the Paramount, featuring Irish music, dance, and comedy. Andy Cooney performs his hit recordings of Irish standards, and performances continue with the Emerald Fire Irish Dancers, Celtic singer Ciara Fox, and comedian George Casey.

Kingston Shamrock Run + St. Patrick’s Day Parade | March 10th race @ 12:50 pm; parade @ 1 pm

Kingston offers one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the Hudson Valley, starting with their two-mile Shamrock Run that culminates at the Kingston waterfront, followed by an afternoon parade that follows the same route down Broadway. Irish Bluegrass w/ JigJam | March 12 @ 7 pm

Hailing from Offaly and Tipperary, Irish quartet JigJam brings a heady cross of bluegrass and Irish folk to The Local, Saugerties’ new multi-arts venue, a few days before the big holiday. This award-winning band has captivated audiences around the world with their energy-fueled sets, sure to bring you to your feet in The Local’s intimate space.

The Dublin City Ramblers w/ Boston Blackthorne (duo) | March 15 @ 8 pm
St. Paddy’s Day show w/ AJ Lee & Blue Summit! | March 17 @ 8 pm

The Colony in Woodstock offers two great events in honor of St. Paddy’s Day. On March 15th, catch the legendary Dublin City Ramblers, an Irish band that’s blazed a trail for folk music for more than 50 years. Boston Blackthorne, an award-winning Celtic duo, opens the set. On St. Patrick’s Day, AJ Lee & Blue Summit are in town from Cali’s Bay Area to perform their unique bluegrass sound inspired by a gumbo of influences from country to soul to swing and jam.

On St. Pat’s Eve, catch the Little Creek Band, a country-rock-Irish band described as “Clancy Brothers meet Johnny Cash meet Jimmy Page.” On the big day, stop by the brewery between 1-5 pm to enjoy Irish food and live music by the McGroovin’ Duo, a high-energy Celtic rock band from Kingston performing a variety of classic Irish tunes mixed with originals.

Wine and laughs go hand-in-hand when friends gather, and what better way to combine the two than at City Winery’s gorgeously rustic grounds. Come early for music by Anjali Aurora, Andrew Jordan and the Vito Petroccitto & Phil Teumum Duo from 10 am-6 pm, followed by a comedy show featuring the energetic Joey Callahan and Jane Condon, whom the Associated Press calls “an upper-crust Roseanne.”

Fishkill Farms Bagpipes + Brunch | March 17 @ 11 am – 1pm

Enjoy a farm-fresh brunch and live bagpipe music by Ian Underwood at Fishkill Farms’ Treasury Cider Bar. Music takes place from 11 am-1 pm. Brunch includes fresh and hard cider options from 10 am until 3 pm. Admission and parking are free.

Every Brilliant Thing | March 17 @ 3 pm

Although this is not a St. Patrick’s event, this acclaimed play’s run at Hudson’s Park Theater continues on the holiday and is worth a mention for those looking for something to do outside of the typical green scene. Performed by Broadway veteran Scott Barrow, Every Brilliant Thing takes us on a journey of the narrator from age six through adulthood as he deals with his mother’s depression by making a list of brilliant, joyful things; a play called both heart-wrenching yet hilarious, highlighting the resilience of the human spirit.

St. Patrick’s Day Winter Onesie Sunday Funday | March 17 @ 2 pm

Wear your lucky onesie to this all-ages party thrown by Big Gay Hudson Valley for a festive Sunday Funday to remember.
