LEO ENERGY REPORT: The Courage To Open Your Heart

Each energy season touches us in a unique area of our lives. We all have the energy of Leo somewhere in our personal astrology. This Energy Report looks at the collective themes that will mark this period. If you are interested in learning more about your personal astrology, a Soul Astrology one-on-one session or a personal Astrology Forecast may be for you. If you are familiar with your astrology already, look at your birth chart to tell you which planets and houses will be ignited by the upcoming Season.

Cancer season got us to dive into our vulnerabilities, we had to consider our boundaries more clearly, and now Leo Season signals some big changes from the information we garnered.

  • Are you embodying your most genuine self?
  • Do you change who you are to meet the expectations and desires of others?
  • Are you stuck in a rut of people pleasing?
  • Are you dissatisfied with your creative output?

Leo Season is here to help answer these questions. It is time for you to fully embody being proud of who you are, loving and accepting all parts of you, even past mistakes. If you are wiser today from your experiences than you were yesterday, you have something to be proud of.

7/22 SUN INTO LEO + VENUS IN LEO RX

The start of Leo season falls on the same day that Venus in Leo begins its retrograde means this is a supercharged period where we are all under review, especially in the areas of finances and resources, giving and receiving love, and self-worth. Co-dependent relationships will be thrown into chaos, and even healthy relationships and partnerships will go through a restructuring period. None of this is in any way a punishment. Life is ushering us to stand in our vitality and self-expression. We have already spent some time in Venus in Leo, but now it begins its review or retrograde at the release degree – meaning, we start Leo Season by letting go. A root change needs to be made. Where our own will is leading us astray, surrendering to a higher power will help us to realign. Our hearts must open, and we will feel the tension of the release of any current shackles to that open-heartedness. We don’t know where we will end up, but we know what we can no longer tolerate, and we know which patterns and lessons we are finished with. Are we clear enough to hear the call?

Leo is ruled by the Sun. The Sun is very much the center of our universe, all life revolves around it. The Sun isn’t full of itself, it’s not seeking attention, it gives every living thing life. In your own life, you give energy to everything around you. Making sure that you have what you need to do that, means stepping away to tune in and take care of yourself. Your life, your purpose, is dependent on you shining bright for yourself. When Leo is our theme, we each become our own center of attention. Our body’s vitality can teach us a lot about where we are in our energy boundaries and self-care. Humans need a healthy sense of self-encouragement, we need to be able to tune into our own creative vibrancy and we need to feel loved and loving to really LIVE. Do you feel vibrant? Does your work or relationship step on the toes of that vibrancy? Are you able to express yourself creatively? Not for achievement purposes, but because each human needs to self-express. So what is standing in the way? You are here, let’s hear you roar. If you need help unfolding these questions, work with a practitioner.

7/23 CHIRON RX IN ARIES

Just one day after an already full-on transit, Chiron or “the wound where the light gets in” begins its yearly review too. This is an ‘AHa’ moment. Somewhere along your lifeline, something in this survival race detoured you from knowing your own value and worth in some area of your life. The core issue experienced we may as intellectual adults deem benign, but it may have had a deep impact on us as a child. Perhaps some kids made fun of us for speaking up when we were small, and we integrated this as a humiliation that has kept us quiet into adulthood. Or perhaps there is a deeper trauma, related to a sense of safety shifting after our parents divorced, or we lived at home with a parent who was ill or suffering from addiction. All of us have experienced hardship, and those childhood wounds need our attention even if they seem insignificant to us now that we have adult intelligence.

Somewhere in our psyche, our childhood wounds still play out in our patterns and behaviors until we give them the attention and awareness that they deserve until we make friends with those hurt spaces. It’s interesting that this transit is happening in Leo Season because this is also the season of the child. This transit provides answers to the “why” of our current dysfunctions. Show up for yourself and for the child you once were. You don’t have to “do” something, more likely you need to slow down, remove the distractions and let yourself “be.” Take time out for yourself around these dates. Prioritize your wellness. If you truly need something to focus on, what did you love when you were a child? Interestingly enough when I was a child I used to love to record myself doing my own radio show on a tape player, it’s not hard to see that my astrology podcast “New Story with Rebecca Conran” has facilitated a way for me to connect with little me too and has been a real source of joy. Choose activities that include little you during this time.

7/27 MERCURY CONJUNCT VENUS RX

Mercury (communication, mind) now joins the exact degree of our Venus retrograde and the mind-heart connection is made. Mercury inconjunct Pluto also happens on this day. However, it brings dark intensity to our thoughts and speech. We may be making mountains out of molehills, drama comes more easily and gossip can spread like wildfire. Be aware of the words you speak and think at this time. If words and thoughts are seeds of intention, what kind of garden are you growing? Perhaps a wake-up call is necessary for you to make some mental adjustments. We are our own self-fulfilling prophecies through our thoughts, let your thoughts be full of love and appreciation as the remedy to self-abuse. Today, suspicions run high, around this date it is wise to use words carefully, to stay out of the fray and to try not to take others personally. This transit may require you to stay home and focus on the simple aspects of life.

7/28 MERCURY ENTERS VIRGO

Mercury and Virgo are as cohesive as it comes, they are cut from the same cloth. We are in this transit for way longer than usual, as the end of August brings a 3-week Mercury Retrograde, too. Yes, this is the summer of personal retrogrades! This is a great time to focus on writing, teaching, learning, expression, organization or just communication in general. Mercury in Virgo gives us succinct speaking skills as well as the energy necessary to learn a new methodology. We are able to get our thoughts in order and to take a logical approach to life. Sometimes some pragmatism is the natural antidote to too much drama. Virgo pursues excellence and now is the time to connect with others who embody the qualities you want to learn from. Shadow aspects to watch for will be nitpicking, chronic perfectionism, rejecting the macro picture, as well as excessive self-doubt. Sure under the intense eye of Virgo criticism may come more easily, but humans can truly thrive in encouraging environments.

8/1 FULL MOON AQUARIUS

During this Full Moon, we are acutely aware of where things have gone wrong and may feel called to act in service to our beliefs and values. It is necessary to rebel, to bring issues to light so that we can also allow for the inner genius to create solutions – as long as the spiritual side of us is also present for the discussion. Spiritual meaning, not just of earthly ego pursuits, but those qualities that have a higher meaning. It is important to also note that Aquarius is the energy of acceptance of others who may be different from us, seeing that they also have value and meaning in the “whole” picture. There is a place for all of us. It may be necessary for you to pull away from the “group” mentality into your own sphere of being and rely on yourself where too much control has been put upon the individual to conform. Aquarius is humanitarian, we will feel more sensitive during this transit to the issues our communities are facing. This highly intuitive Full Moon could bring incredible flashes of insight, but definitely of extraordinary variety!

8/16 NEW MOON LEO

New Moons are fresh emotional starts. The symbol for Leo is the lion, and similar to the character in The Wizard of Oz, this season is about reaching for our voice and a healthy dose of courage. Humans are meant to live heart-centered lives, where we are able to love freely and amply and we want to share that love from the rooftops. After the epic learning of this last month, I’d be remiss if I didn’t close by quoting Katy Perry’s song Roar. It’s not Shakespeare, but it cuts to the core of the lessons we need to learn:

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me roar
